A defining moment in life can come at any time and be completely unexpected. This moment is not always a good one, but it may be turned into something good. It just depends on how you and the people around you decide to deal with the situation.
Senior at Clawson High School, Grace Kulesza, is a very positive and outgoing person. She is always kind to her peers and likes to brighten other’s days. She has two siblings; an older sister, Olivia, and a younger brother, William.
In 2012, Grace Kulesza experienced the loss of a family member. The tragedy was hard on her and her family, but at the same time it brought them closer together. The family now sees each other more often and appreciates their family more than ever. They did something that most people may not be able to do, they took their grief and are now helping people in the same situation.
“Live your life to the fullest because you never know what could happen.”
As for Grace, personally, the loss changed her life in more ways than one. This was her one and only life defining moment. Of course the experience made her very sad, but it also made her realize what is important in life. The tragedy will live with her forever, but it has taught her life lessons that she will carry with her every day.
“Always be nice and kind to everyone because you never know what they are going through.”
Grace now participates in events that deal with suicide awarness. Every year, Grace, along with her friends and family, does the Mind over Matter 5k walk that raises money for the cause. She also informs people on suicide awareness about where to get help and to not bully other via twitter.
Top 10 songs of 2014(so far) By Eve Leigh 1 April 2014
What makes a good song? It’s melody? The catchy lyrics? It’s music video? It takes a lot to make a good song and this generation seems to mostly enjoy the pop/rap songs and dubstep.
There’s others who prefer songs by older bands such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, or The Doors. And there’s a variety, like myself, who can’t choose just one genre of music. I went through my school and gave them a list of songs to choose from that are made this year. Here are the results:
1. Drunk in love by Beyonce
2. Let It Go performed by Idina Menzel in the movie Frozen
3. Berzerk by Eminem
4. Happy by Pharrell
5. Royals by Lorde
6. We Can’t Stop by Miley Cyrus
7. Roar by Katy Perry
8. Demons by Imagine Dragons
9. Applause by Lady GaGa
10. Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke
Was your song up there? Did you know any song that should’ve been up there? This is only January through March of songs of 2014. There’ll be other great ones and some that are total flops, but if it’s good to you, you won’t let anyone criticize your favorite song.

Summer is coming right around the corner! Pool parties, barbecues, fireworks, and let’s not forget the trips to Cedar Point. But as much there’s going to be sunny days, there’s going to be rainy days and what do we do when our day at the waterpark gets ruined by showers? You can easily stay inside, go to a friend’s and hang out there, or go to the mall, but a big thing people do on rainy days is go see a movie.

College Does Not Define You By: Hannah Coakley 9 May 2014
As a senior in high school you may feel the pressure to make many decisions in a short period of time. The decisions you make will affect your future. All the stress of questions, what college you choose, whether to stay home or go away, should you do community college and transfer? It can seem like your decision on what college you choose defines you.
A senior at Clawson High School, Kristina Knechtl, comes from a small family of just her and her mom. She is feeling the stress of many people wanting to know where she has decided to go to college. Kristina hasn’t fully decided on her major yet. She is torn between nursing and health sciences. Kristina is a very good student who keeps her grades up. She has been accepted into all the schools she applied for. At this point, Kristina is deciding between Oakland University in Rochester Hills, or Ferris State University up north in Big Rapids.
“As long as you get a diploma and an education, you are good,” Kristina said regarding her college decision.
Many colleges help you get jobs when you are graduating. Most jobs are going to hire someone with a degree and it does not always matter where you got that diploma as long as it is from an accredited college or university.
“A diploma is a diploma,” Kristina stated.
I think the main point that Kristina was trying make is that college does not define you. You can transfer as many times as you want. You may make mistakes in choosing your school, but the best you can do is learn from your mistakes and help others when they are choosing schools.
